Hello,

Another weekend passed on my small lake when dragonflies emerge. This time i witnessed an emerging of small damselflies. The terrain is full of them, so its a good hunting place for other species like spiders. Searching for something interesting to photograph, i found a scene where a female of jumping spider from Sitticus species (Sitticus cf. floricola) catched a young damselfly when it was not fully emerged yet. Although the nature is sometimes brutal, some (new) life is sacrificed to keep other life which is also neccessary to keep the nature alive.

this his the truth of life... "eat and getting eaten"...

We all are eating meet but feel sorry for insects who are loosing their life through other insects. An example how strange human beeings are sometimes... me as well...

It's not a Evarcha. It's a Sitticus species.

You are right, it seems to be Sitticus pubescens.

Hi michal,

a great shot from an unusual angle. But that works best for this scene, to get prey and predator in focus. The joice of aperture seems very sensible so you have a very high depht of field where the surroundings can´t be very distracting anyways. Well done. Also the arrangement of the scene convinces me. All in all its a wonderful picture of a special moment in life an death.
Btw, dit the damselfly just hatch on the backside of the leaf? I think I see another tarsus peaking out on the right side of the leaf.

I noticed during post-processing that something looking like a leg is visible from the other side of the leaf - its probably the leg of the larva from which the damselfly emerged.
